Advent series As we conclude our series, One True Gift, it is the sacrificial death of Jesus that now comes into view. Philippians 2 tells us that Jesus, the servant, became “obedient to death – even death on a cross” (Phil 2:8). What does it look like to have the ‘same attitude as this Jesus’? What impact should his death have on us as we prepare to celebrate his birth? How might the reality of the cross be the cause of great rejoicing this Christmas? How might this wonderful truth resonate at this time of year?
This Sunday there is also an opportunity to join together for our Trinity Carol Service, and the following Sunday we have our atmospheric lessons and carols service. There are many opportunities to invite family, friends, and those we know to join us over the next few days. In each of our services, we will be speaking of Jesus in ways designed especially for those who might not know him or who might want to get to know him better. The stunning thing is that the Jesus they will meet in the manger is the same Jesus who would go on to die as the Saviour of the world. Refreshments will be served before and after the service this Sunday. Groups for children and young people will run for the last time this year, a livestream will be broadcast and prayer ministry will be available.
NB: For those of you who remember Jim Large he sadly passed away on Monday 9th December.
